It Is Not That I Am Losing My Mind. I Think I Already Lost It.
I was interviewed by Bold Journey. An American magazine.
I need you to understand what that sentence means to me. A Brazilian woman living in Switzerland, writing in English, building books and a blog and a dystopian novel in public, and an American magazine found me and said we want to hear your story.
I am not calm about this. I am choosing not to pretend I am calm about this. I’m dreaming inside too.
I love it. It is crazy. I love that it is crazy.
Bold Journey asked me about resilience, about how I work, about the books and what drives the writing and what it has cost and what it has given back. And I answered honestly, the way I try to answer everything on this blog, without the version of the story that makes it sound like I always knew what I was doing.
Because I did not always know what I was doing. I still do not always know what I am doing. What I know is that I keep going and at some point the keeping going becomes the thing.
The interview is live. You can read it here: Meet Jessica Gabrielzyk — Bold Journey
And while you are here, if you are new, welcome. This is what we do on this blog. We write about identity and migration and belonging and the person you become when the life you built no longer fits the person you are. We are also building a novel in public. December 1st the first chapter goes up.
If you want to follow along, start here. 💛
